Expression of Interest for Third-party GCC Carbon Finance Facility

Global Carbon Council (GCC) is a the global voluntary GHG program, approved under Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme of International Aviation (CORSIA) of ICAO and conditionally approved by International Carbon Reduction and Offsetting Alliance (ICROA). GCC understands that markets look for predictability of carbon finance to catalyze the climate actions on the ground. Since a vibrant marketplace for carbon credits is necessary to enhance carbon finance predictability, GCC would like to facilitate the platform for Project Owners to engage with potential Carbon Offset Buyers in an early stage to raise the adequate carbon finance.

We will provide the information on all submitted and in-pipeline projects available on our website, including the contact details of project owners, who can be readily contacted by carbon credit buyers to sign agreement for carbon finance at any stage of the project. The project owners may send the details of the projects planned to be submitted to GCC, so that it can be readily available on our website for the potential buyers to contact the project owners.

GCC is considering to start a third-party carbon finance facility implemented by a carbon market participant, essentially carbon credit buyer or trader, that will be selected based on the assurance that it makes for maximizing the benefits to GCC project owners. We therefore invite interest from the carbon market participants to offer carbon finance facility to the project owners submitting GHG offset projects.

It is required that the carbon finance facility implemented by selected market participant buys all the carbon credits issued by GCC (with or without labels) whereas it is not mandatory for project owner to sell them to the facility, and they are free to sell to any buyer/trader they want.

The entity responding to this call on expression of interest should commit to buy the GCC-issued credits at a “market price” and discuss this price transparently with project owners.
The entity must have a great network of corporate buyers, demonstrated business stability and strong financial standing. The entity must also submit the evidence of their strong financial position over last five years while making submission of this expression of interest. The carbon credits shall only be transacted through GCC carbon registry.

Please submit your expression of interest to operations@globalcarboncouncil.com along with concrete proposals on GCC website by October 30, 2021.
