On 29th October 2019 the first Steering Committee Meeting of Global Carbon Council was organized at St. Regis, Doha, Qatar. The Steering Committee of GCC is responsible for review and approval of GCC documents including standards, methodologies, guidelines, procedures, emission reduction projects and carbon credit issuance requests.
The meeting was attended by following members of Steering Committee and GCC Operations Team.

Dr. Yousef Alhorr, the President of Global Carbon Council, welcomed all the attendees and discussed the vision of the organization and its long-term strategy for Carbon Neutrality together with policies and measures required to achieve the set targeted goals. Advisory Board members were present in the beginning of the meeting. The members of Advisory Board and Steering Committee introduced each other and shared their vision on the implementation and operation of GCC framework. They agreed to cooperate with each other to help catalyzing Climate Actions regionally and globally.
Mr. Kishor Rajhansa Director-Carbon and Climate Action, and Coordinator of Steering Committee opened the meeting and updated the members about the entire GCC Framework, and the key outcomes expected from the meeting.
Mr. Amit Thusu, Head- Carbon Management, presented the entire GCC framework work and strategy of the GCC program.
The meeting discussed the immediate top priorities as well as the comments made by Steering Committee members on various GCC documents through first round of electronic consultation (EC-01). The schedule of work of various streams of GCC framework was agreed.
It was agreed that all the changes communicated to CORSIA Technical Advisory Board will be incorporated. Also, it was discussed that the first four GCC methodologies will be considered by Steering Committee by January 2020. It was informed by GCC Operations Team to the Committee members that the first project to GCC is likely to be submitted by project owners by March 2020.
The steering Committee agreed to finalize changes in all GCC framework documents by December 2020.
The meeting concluded by thanking the participants for their valuable cooperation so far and their strong commitment for the upcoming activities that enables smooth operation of GCC.
