The Global Carbon Council (GCC) and the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) have successfully concluded their participation at the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 28) that took place in Dubai, UAE, from 30 November to 12 December 2023.
Under the leadership of Founding Chairman, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, a dedicated team of 20 specialists from GCC and GORD actively engaged in COP28 activities, resulting in the signing of six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and strategic agreements committing to low-carbon pathways.
Located inside Blue Zone, the joint pavilion of GCC and GORD hosted 16 insightful sessions, attracting over 70 experts and participation from more than 2,300 attendees. These sessions centered on discussions aimed at identifying viable solutions to pressing climate challenges. Additionally, climate experts from GCC and GORD joined 7+ side events within the Blue and Green Zones, contributing substantively as panelists and guest speakers. Considering the scale and impact of their engagements, GCC and GORD’s activities were covered widely, with over 2,000 articles during COP28.
Apart from presentations, panel discussions, side events and Q&A’s, GCC and GORD leveraged high-level meetings to advance dialogues with governments and prominent organizations, solidifying their role as key players in the global sustainability milieu.
