Global Carbon Council approves 6 organizations as GCC Verifiers

To date, the Global Carbon Council (GCC) has approved six organizations from India and Germany as GCC Verifiers.  Some other applications made by several organizations from different countries are currently under review by the GCC. GCC Verifiers are third-party entities that are accredited, either by UNFCCC’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) or national accreditation bodies in respective countries as per ISO 14064. They are approved by GCC program to provide verification services for projects intending to be registered with GCC Program and for GHG emission reductions from projects already registered with GCC Program.

Following the ‘Procedure for Approval of GCC Verifiers’, the approved organizations are eligible to operate as GCC Verifiers for a two-year period starting from the date of approval. The current list of GCC verifiers includes Verico SCE, 4K Earth Science Private Limited, Earthhood Service Private Limited, EPIC Sustainability Services Private Limited, KBS Certification Services Private Limited and Carbon Check (India) Private Limited (CCIPL).

Verification of project documentation by approved GCC Verifiers is a pre-requisite for project registration and issuance of approved carbon credits (ACCs) under the GCC Program. To this end, GCC Verifiers play a key role in ensuring the verity of emission reduction claims made by project owners.
