Global Carbon Council sets new algorithm to calculate and monitor GHG emission reductions

The Global Carbon Council (GCC) has launched its new baseline and monitoring methodology that will help organizations calculate GHG emission reductions and accordingly monitor the performance of animal manure and waste management projects.

GCC’s third methodology GCCM003 deals with Energy Generation from Animal Manure and Waste Management Projects. With its global scope, the methodology is designed to facilitate owners of waste management projects to earn carbon credits. The GCC program works with the support of a carbon registry which collates, displays, issues and transfers carbon credits (Approved Carbon Reductions or ACRs) for a range of GHG reduction projects.

Alongside GCC’s previous methodologies (GCCM001 for Grid Connected Renewable Energy Generation Project, and GCCM002 for Energy Saving in Pumping Systems), GCCM003 will encourage project developers in the waste management field to make use of carbon markets to raise carbon revenues from their projects.
