The Global Carbon Council (GCC) proudly announces the first credit issuance for the Sol do Sertão Renewable Energy Project, a significant achievement as it marks the inaugural issuance in South America. This milestone highlights the project’s pivotal role in advancing sustainable development and renewable energy initiatives in the region.

This issuance from the Sol do Sertão project is the first in South America, emphasizing the region’s pivotal role in the global fight against climate change. The project, nestled in the heart of Brazil’s Oliveira dos Brejinhos municipality, continues to contribute 2457338 MWh of clean energy during this monitoring period to the National Interconnected System (SIN), significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering sustainable development.
